Gradvantage respects users’ rights to privacy and treats all personal information with a great deal of care. Gradvantage is developed, created and managed by Gradvantage Pty Ltd (Australian Company Number 153 324 460); referred to in this Privacy Policy using pronouns including but not limited to, “we” “us” and “our”. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) governs the website found at URL address http://www.gradvantage.com.au, hereafter known as Gradvantage (“Gradvantage”) or website (“website”). The user (“user”) refers to any individual or entity that access, visits or uses the website or any of the services, features or functionality available on the website.

The Privacy Policy is part of Gradvantage’s broader Terms and Conditions that govern the general use of the website. Accordingly, the Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with the Terms and Conditions. The Privacy Policy shall be interpreted under the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia. The Privacy Policy also applies to information the user may provide us through a source external to the website, including but not limited to phone, email, fax and postal mail.
By visiting the website, and/or by using the services available on the website, the user agrees to the terms and provisions of this Privacy Policy.   • Personal Information collected by Gradvantage - Visitors and users to the website may be asked to provide Personal Information. Examples where information is collected include where a user:

  • We reserve the right to use information to create anonymous data about users to develop statistics about activity on and users of the site.
    By continually examining user trends, we are able to provide an improved service that is customised for what our users demand. Furthermore, certain information is required to ensure the accuracy, independence and reliability of comments, the review system and community. We try to ensure that usage is genuine rather than fraudulent so that Gradvantage remains a valuable and impartial source of career information.
    The user may be able to review, correct or modify Personal Information stored in the user account area created on Gradvantage (excluding content and/or reviews that have already been submitted). However, before we provide users with account information, correct inaccuracies or delete information/ accounts, we may ask the user identity verification questions.

 

Will We distribute personal or usage information?

    • Legal Exception: In certain limited circumstances we may disclose personal information if disclosure is necessary to:

Information Pertaining to Website Usage

Gradvantage and/or Gradvantage’s service providers may use a number of features to examine and analyse website usage.

 

  • Cookies -
    • We may use “cookies” to keep and track information about users. Cookies allow us to temporarily identify the Gradvantage pages and features viewed by a user during a particular visit/session and what the user purchases. Cookies are only temporarily stored within a user’s browser during the visit/ session. This provides us with the ability to improve the features, usability and functionality of the website as we are able to know what is most used. Cookies may also store the user’s username and/or password. A cookie may enable us to relate the user’s use of the website to other information about the user, including the user’s Personal Information.   •  Clear GIFs -
    • We may use “clear GIFs” or similar technologies in the website and/or in our communications with users. This is used so that we know whether a user has visited a Web page or received a message/ communication.     We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is protected and is not subject to unauthorized access, use or disclosure. We endeavor to protect the security and integrity of all sensitive Personal Information provided to us via Gradvantage.   • Email/ “Contact Us” Security - If we are contacted via e-mail, a “contact us” or similar feature on Gradvantage, the user should be aware that the transmission may not be secure. A third party could view this information sent in this manner. We will not be responsible or liable for:
    • Disclosure of the user’s information due to errors/ unauthorized actions of third parties during or after information transmission
  •  Password and Account Security - Users are able to create an account on Gradvantage, associated with a username and password. The user is entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the account password. Furthermore, the user is also responsible for any access to or use of Gradvantage by the user or any person/ entity using the user’s account, whether or not such access or use has been authorized by or on behalf of the user. The user should immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of a password, account or any other security breach. We will not be responsible or liable for:
    • Any loss or damage caused by the user’s failure of compliance with this term

  •  Third Parties
    To provide users with a comprehensive information source we include links to external, non-affiliated, third party website. We also provide users with the opportunity to click on advertiser/ sponsors links. Once the user clicks on an external link or leaves the Gradvantage website, we cannot control what will happen on any external sites concerning your privacy or the use of cookies and other technology. We do not take any responsibility for what occurs on external sites. Therefore it is the user’s responsibility to check each individual website’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy policy before browsing. This Privacy Policy does not address the privacy and information practices used by third parties.

 

  • Third-Party Offers - We may provide users with the opportunity to receive offers from external companies, organisations, institutions and/or websites. This includes but is not limited to graduate employers and promotional partners. Any information from third parties will be transmitted by Gradvantage so that external companies, organisations, institutions and/or websites will not have access either to users’ Personal Information (including email address) or Usage Information.

 

  •  Third-Party Advertisers - We may use third-party advertising companies/ agencies to display advertisements when users visit Gradvantage. Such advertising companies/agencies may use information about the user and the user’s visit to Gradvantage/ other websites to provide advertisements about goods and services that are of greatest interest to the user. Such companies may also use cookies and clear GIFs to measure the effectiveness of advertising. Information collected by such third party advertising companies/ agencies cannot generally be classified as Personal Information unless the user provides Personal Information to the third party through an advertisement or e-mail communication. We encourage users to read these third parties’ privacy policies to alleviate any concerns.

 

  • Third-Party Links - When using or viewing Gradvantage, the user may have the opportunity to visit external sites that we do not operate or administer via a link. These external sites may collect Personal Information about the user. As we do not control external websites, we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and information practices used by/on them.
    6.4 Service Providers - We may occasionally share your Personal Information with our service providers or suppliers who assist us in maintaining and managing archives, content, discussion forums, community, newsletters and other website features/ functionality. However, our service providers and suppliers are only permitted to use such information when providing services to Gradvantage and are not permitted to use the information for other unauthorised purposes.

 

User Responsibility to Protect Sensitive Information

  •  Sensitive Information - User submissions may be made available to other Gradvantage users/ the general public. Accordingly, we recommend that users do not include sensitive information in submissions that would allow the physical location of that user. It is the user’s responsibility to protect sensitive information. This includes but is not limited to a user’s:
    • Full name
    • Physical address
    • Telephone/ Mobile Phone or Fax numbers/ contact details
    • Financial information
    • Any other information
  • Circumstances in which to exercise care - The user should exercise care specifically when:
    • Contributing to a public area or analogous Gradvantage feature including a forum, chat room, blog, bulletin board, survey, blog, wiki or other feature made available to users on or through the Website
    • Contributing content to any part of Gradvantage

 

Opt-in/ Opt-out Services

  •  Opt-in - Gradvantage may offer certain services including a newsletter or additional information to users. All of these services will always be opt-in, providing the user with a choice regarding whether participation in the service meets their needs.
  • Opt-out – The user has the ability and full discretion to opt-out of a service, via using a selection in the member account area. With respect to our newsletters, the user may opt out by emailing the Gradvantage team with a request to opt out from receiving correspondence. Users should not receive more than 1 email a week from Gradvantage

 

  •  Changes to the Privacy Policy
    This Privacy Policy was last updated on 30 Octover 2011.
    We reserve the right to modify, change or update this Privacy Policy, or any other of our policies or practices, at any time without notice.
